TreatBox March

I have been wanting to start a subscription box again but nothing had been calling to me.
I don't like the beauty ones where you pay £12-£15 for 4-6 beauty products, most are small sizes or free samples. Or you get things you'll never use so you give them away or they grow dust somewhere. You really don't feel like you get your moneys worth.

Well, I found a box which I feel is well worth the small fee I paid!

The box should fit through most letter boxes but my letter box is small :/
But the mail man will leave it with a neighbour.

This months box is Spring themed obvs.

So everything was a nice yellow tone with floral and insect inspired imagery.

I have used the calendar to mark off the days till my trip to Amsterdam on the 17th of this month.

Here's everything I got:

Here's a pic from the site itself with the bits and bobs.

In total you get a Post Card sized image with an inspirational quote on, Calendar, 2 spring themed greeting cards, a pack of wildflower seeds, a honeycomb treat, cocoa, shea & honey bath melt, a nail clipper and file pack and a tricking lunchbox.
All together thats 9 items.

Below is a collection of the items I got, just in more detail.

The monthly cost is only £12 with free delivery and comes the 1st week of the month.
I paid for mine on 27th and got it 2 days later.

Can't wait to plant these along with my two other boxes of meadow mix seeds.

You can also build your own boxes or get old boxes. All the bits in the boxes are also on sale separately so if you specially like one item you can repurchase it really affordably on the site itself.

I can always do with a new lunch box. I'm saving this one.

The box is chockablock filled.
I love that all the items are thoughtful pieces.
Even down to the materials used. The box itself and the tissue paper is all biodegradable.
So its earth friendly.

Have a look at TreatBox UK if, like me, you want a super cute subscription box which isn't full of shit you won't use!

The Fragrance Shop - Discovery Club

As mentioned previously, I have been looking at different subscription boxes to try which aren't just beauty and I stumbled upon the Discovery Club by The Fragrance Shop.
I thought I'd give it a go since it was only a fiver every 4 months.

I think my expectations were a bit too high for this, I was expecting it to be a bit better.

I had researched this before actually paying for it, I wanted to know what I was signing up for so I checked a few review videos and blog post's, it seemed that you were going to get about 9ish samples, some people had bigger sample bottles than normal small 1ml viles so with that in mind I decided to just go for it.

The box mine came in was not the proper Discovery Club box so that was already a massive let down.
The official box is more of a Glossy Box type thing, has the name of the product, its nicely wrapped in crepe paper and has the information bits nicely put on top of the products. The samples them self are then placed in the lovely paper wormy doodars.

Not my box. My box was just a standard gift box, a nice box at that, but not what I was expecting.

What I saw when I opened the box was a bit disheartening, the paper worms were flat on the bottom of the box, the info cards were tucked underneath that, the samples were stacked on top of each other.

What I got:

Versace Eros Pour Homme
Versace Eros Pour Femme
Guerlain Le Petite R obe Noire
Hugo Boss  Hugo Woman
Stella McCartney Stella
Givenchy Very Irrisistable
Dolce & Gabanna Dolce Floral Drops

So I got 6 women's and a men's perfume which is fine, but I was expecting more. The site eluded to more and so did the reviews I had seem.
The box itself costs £5 but there's also £2.99 delivery so realistically I paid £1.33 per sample.
Which I think is a lot considering if you go onto ebay and search "perfume samples job lot" you can get like 50+ of these samples for like a tenner.

The info card does come with £45 worth of discounts which is nifty and if I DO find myself wanting to buy any one of these perfumes, it will come in handy. You know I love a discount!
I have al;so given one of the vouchers to a friend who I know uses one of these perfumes so that's also a nice little thing you can do with them.

So the packaging is not the advertised packaging, that's strike one!
The contents seem to be less than stated online, that's strike tow!
Third strike for me was the fact that 3 of these viles of perfume were half or more than half empty.

These were unused, fresh out the cardboard box.

I'm really not sold on this.
I DO think it is a great way to try new perfumes, its not always easy to know how a perfume will smell when its on those cardboard scent stickies they give you. And perfume often changes scent with your body after some time anyway. So this is a great idea. I definitely do like some of the choices I have tried in this box. But for nearly 8 quid, Im not sure it's worth it.

I am however not going to cancel my subscription just yet because I emailed them and they did reply very fast and apologised for the incorrect packaging. And offered a further discount as a "sorry".
So fair is fair, Im going to give them another chance...
Watch this space!

Taffy Mail - April Box

A few weeks ago Daisy and I were looking at different subscriptions boxes to try, she decided on Birch box and I decided to try Taffy Mail.
(link to her Birch Box post HERE)

I was very excited when the mail man handed me this package.
The box itself comes with a big stamp over the front of it quoting "Your Favourite Piece OF Mail". And I can assure you, it WAS my fave bit of mail that day.

I had already removed the address stickers on the box, so I was left with this awesome box which Im going to use to send stuff abroad to friends in USA.

The box came nicely packed with coupons and info packs.
It didnt include information on the items inside like some subscription boxes do, and I like that because I often read the info bits first and then am not surprised by the contents.

Straight away I was super excited just for the vanilla coke, I know we get it here but I just adore vanilla coke. So already this box is a win for me!
And the Kool Aid as well made me really happy because in all honesty, I am not a fan of cordial we have in this country.
(my parents are in South Africa now and Ive got a shopping list of about 6 bottles of grape cordial from back home)

In total I got 13 items, which makes me really happy as the "original" box quotes having 10 items.
So already I have made my money back on this little box.
On my purchases in American Candy stores I often spend about £30 each time, to get the same amount of items so for just £12.99 and even £15.00 at full price, I think this box is well worth it!

Here's what I got:

vanilla coke // big hunk taffy bar // airheads sour rope // hershey's krackel bar

peanut butter cookie dough bites // wonka shockers // clark peanut butter bar

chocolate pop rocks // tropical punch kool aid // hershy's mini bar // krackel mini bar // airheads single sour candy // tootsie pop lollipop

I am so happy with this box, I got it on a discount, which you can use too.
If you use the code BESTIE15 you can get 15% off your first box.

What do you think of this TaffyMail box?
Do you like sweet boxes or are you a firm beauty box fan?
