Unicorns Unite for Revolution

I got an email from Revolution Make Up and it had the word unicorn in the subject... I had no choice but to open it and see what was inside.
And I'm glad I did.
The email was regarding the Unicorns Unite range of lipsticks that Revolution have bought out.

The range has 5 lipstick colours to marvel over.
They are Legend, Throne, Pink Myth, Magical and Horn of Magic.

All the colours are a pearlesque type shine. I's love if one or two of them were matte but hey ho, better than nothing!

The packaging is as expected for Revolution, black tube with a colour pot at the bottom.

Magic is a purple, pretty standard purple at that. This is a deep blue purple, it is truly magical!
You can never go wrong with purples!

Legend is a darker grey colour, its got a purple tone to it but a lovely grey shade.
Ive always wanted a grey lipstick, this is one of the ones I would love in matte.

This shade, throne, is pretty wicked. Its like a pink grey.
Its definitely one that needs a few coats to make an impact.

Pink Myth is a standard pink with a pearl shine. It's highly pigmented so its a decent pink. You can't ever have too many pinks.

Finally, Horn of Magic, is a tricking awesome turquise colour. Its just awesome ok!

Here's a swatch of all the colours. This is just 2 swipes of the lipstick so as you can see the colour payoff is pretty good.

Here is an example of the colour Legend.

If you want to pick up any of there, hop over to the Revolution website. They're all currently 50p a piece! Bargain and a flipping half!

Layering Up with New Look

Well I don't know about you guys, but I am starting to feel the chill now a days.
Seems we have had our fill of summer and the autumnal days are closing in, not that I mind.

I am a huge fan of layering, I love being able to chuck on a cardi to keep me warm in these transition days. I never know if its going to be just a little bit too cold for short sleeves or not because the sun in the morning tricks me. So having a cardi handy really is that, handy!

My favourite cardigan right now is this pink one with cute lace detail on the back from New Look*.

I really love this one because it's light enough but still gives me warmth.
The knit is quite thin so it doesn't bulk up your outfit.

I've been wearing this quite often recently and it goes with most things, I've styled it with print heavy dresses, skirt and blouse as well as super casual with jeans and a t-shirt.

Here's how I wore it with jeans to go for a meal with the fam and do some grocery shopping.

As you can see, Ive layered this with a t-shirt with a cami underneath.

These jeans are the super skinny Rosie jeans.
I love them for colder days as they're so skinny that they're like leggings and we all know how much I love my leggings.

I paired all this with my new Chelsea boots from Simply Be.

The lace detailing comes all the way up the back of the cardigan and onto the shoulders.

The lace is really sweet and whatever you're wearing underneath shows through.

My tips for layering are pretty simple;

pick thin pieces so you don't feel too clumpy
if you find one item that works, get it in every colour
don't be scared to layer

If you're looking for some cute knit layering pieces, New Look has you covered.

Go forth and LAYER!

Van Dyk Hotel Lunch

My parents decided to treat us to a lovely Sunday Lunch today.

We wanted to go somewhere nice with an outside area since it's been so nice recently and it certainly was a lovely day out today.

We got a pamphlet in the post for Van Dyk Hotel in Chesterfield, its actually very close by to where we live.
So we thought why not.

I wore a dress from New Look.
(similar here)

I had my watermelon clutch from Simply Be.

Onto the actual hotel.

It's got a lovely statue dog outside the entrance.
I think it looks rather homey and comfortable.

To start I had Rosemary and Thyme Pork Tenderloin with potato Croquettes.

Then I had a Honey & Mustard Roast Gammon with a HUGE Yorkshire and veg.

Pudding was a Strawberry and Soft cheese mousse with basil and strawberry "textures" and a Champaign Jelly.

I bared my legs and arms today, I said FUCK IT to my body hang ups and I felt free!

Do you like to go out for a Sunday Diner or do you prefer to stay at home?

8oz Burger Co. Review

A little while ago I went to the 8oz Burger Company in Barnsley.

We always try different places to find our ultimate burger because we are picky as heck! So obviously we had to try this place. It had very good recommendations too.

It's located Barnsley City Centre in a section called The Arcade.

I got myself a Bourbon and RootCoke float. It was delicious!

I got a HUGE burger called The Cattle Grid.
It was an 8oz burger, bacon, pulled pork, grilled chicken and brisket with cheese sauce on it. I had it with sweet potato fries.

It was a hunk of a burger.

All in all I DID enjoy it, BUT one small bit I wasn't too keen on was the burger patty itself, it had onions in and I detest onions. No where on the menu does it state there would be onions in the burger mince. But other than that it was great!

Wingz of an Angel - OOTD

The lovely folk over at Wingz offered to send me one of their clever little doodars to try out.

What are Wingz you ask?

Well, they're basically arm coverage.
You pull it on like a normal top, and the band sits under your bust and then your arms go through the sleeves as normal. Then just pop on a sleeveless dress/top and you dont have to worry about arm fat or wearing a cardigan/shrug.

I chose the full length Wingz because I wanted to be able to fully cover my arms, or roll the sleeves up if needed.

The Wingz are made of a standard thick cotton and they kept me warm enough without needing a cardi or my blazer.

As the title suggests, this is still an OOTD so here's the normal format.

What I Wore:
Dress - A X Paris via Simply Be
Leggings - New Look
Pumps - Primark

Here's the dress without the Wingz. It's a lovely dress on its own, but it was a chilly day
I also have that bit of arm fat that sometimes makes me a tiny bit self concious so the Wingz help to hide that in an effective way whilst still allowing me to wear pretty clothing.

As per usual, here's my face for the day.

Have you tried Wingz yet??

An Italian Affair with Piccolino

At the weekend we decided to go for a nice meal for lunch.

We are pretty picky as a family when it comes to eating out because we have ran our own food restaurant before so we have a certain standard we expect.
But we certainly don't mind paying for that standard.

So we went to Sheffield city centre, went for a nice walk through town and through the Winter Gardens and when we came out we stumbled upon Piccolino.

Its an authentic Italian joint, this is made very clear by the smells as you walk into the place, and the old style bread cutting machine, olives being handed out and the charming Italian waiters walking around humming and being jolly.

The Iconic Sheffield Silver balls just out the front of this place help top add a special touch to the look of this place.

The place is very open and bright which is always great, the huge floor to ceiling windows catch the light of the sun so wonderfully.

We got a bowl of fresh cut rustic bread, it was still warm from the oven, it smelt delicious, covered in herbs. There's a little bowl ready for your olive oil and balsamic vinegar, I couldn't wait to dig in and get dipping.  I love anything that gets dipped in balsamic vinegar so this ticked the boxes for me!

We ordered a table starter of Calamari which we ate so fast I didnt get time to take a decent pic.
It came with about 10 rings, which is surprising. We all chomped away whilst talking to one of the waiters about Italy and the village he grew up in.

For mains I had a chicken dish called Pollo Alla Valdostana.
It's Chicken breast with Prosciutto and Fontina Cheese, battered in breadcrumbs and friend in light butter. It was served on a bed of peppers, tomato and onions with capers and a pesto sauce.

It was sublime!

Dad had a steak and Mom had a veal cutlet.

For dessert I had a Coppa Di Ciocolata which is a Sundae really.
Made with a mix of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, hazelnuts and chocolate sauce with champaign infused pears and biscotti.

I love hazelnuts so this was a nice treat for me. The pears were a surprise, I didn't realise they had champaign in them but it really worked well with all the flavours.

Some more of the interior.

I am so happy to have found this place.
It cost just shy of £100.00 including a tip but its so worth it for the exceptional service and hospitality shown. AND to finally find somewhere that serves Veal.  I know it's not everyone's cuppa tea, almost everyone in this country does not agree with veal at all, but for us veal is a firm fave.

I think we will definitely return here.

Have you found any new hidden gems of the food world?
